Garibaldi at Squamish (GAS)

    

Garibaldi at Squamish Inc. is proposing to construct and operate an all-seasons destination ski resort at Brohm Ridge near Squamish, BC. The overall project area would be 2,759 hectares, offering 23 ski lifts on 124 developed ski trails, resort accommodation, private housing, and commercial units, guest services, public amenities, and groundwater supply and infrastructure whilst maintaining 80% of green space.

This is an ongoing proposal and would be a 20 year project.

2018 to 2020 – Obtaining the Master Development Agreement, including local government support

2020- 2022 – Preliminary designs, planning and detail design

2023 to 2025 – Construction aiming for an opening in the fall of 2025

Latest update: An information session was held by the developer on June 12th 2018 and they are now moving into consolation for the master plan. They are optimistic that construction could begin in 4 years.

Update Sept 2018 – There will be a public hearing on the 6th September for a revised proposal.

Update May 2018 – This development has just been turned down at the 3rd reading!

In June 2016, this 118-acre parcel of land (formerly a golf course) was bought by Polygon Homes.

Their current plan (which passed its first reading in January, 2018) includes 395 units in total — a mix of two- and three-storey townhouses that include 18 affordable units.
